Privacy Policy

Scope
This privacy policy describes Canadian Mortgage Brokers Association (CMBA) collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.

Personal Information
Personal information is recorded information about an identifiable individual. It includes employee personal information but does not include contact information or work product information.

Contact information means information to enable an individual at a place of business to be contacted. It includes the name, position name or title, business telephone number, business address, business email or business fax number of the individual.

Work product information means information prepared or collected by an individual or group of individuals as a part of the individual’s or group’s responsibilities or activities related to the individual’s or group’s employment or business. It does not include personal information about an individual who did not prepare or collect the personal information.

Collection
CMBA is a Canadian association furthering the interests of Canadian mortgage brokers through a variety of means including advocacy, education, events, networking, and public education.

CMBA’s members are themselves associations of other brokers. CMBA does at times engage with brokers who are not members of other associations

CMBA collects personal information to provide industry services (including advising of events, activities, and issues it believes could be of interest to the recipient and delivering those in which the recipient chooses to participate).

When you contact us orally or by mail (regular or electronic), we collect your contact information and your message so that we may respond to and communicate with you. We recommend that sensitive personal information not be sent unencrypted over the Internet or by e-mail.

When you register in any of our services, we collect your information in order to communicate with you and provide the services (and any ancillary or related services) to you.

When you visit our website, we do not (except where done so expressly) collect personally identifiable information. We do use a third-party to analyze non-identifiable web traffic data with the purpose of improving the services we offer. We collect information such as:

  • the pages accessed on our site and links you clicked on,
  • the date and time you visited the site,
  • the referring site (if any) through which you arrived at this site,
  • your operating system (such as Windows 10), and
  • the type of web browser you use (such as Internet Explorer or Chrome).

Accuracy of personal information

CMBA will make reasonable efforts to ensure that personal information collected is accurate and complete, if the personal information is likely to either be:

  • used by the organization to make a decision that affects the individual to whom the personal information relates, or
  • disclosed by the organization to another organization.

Use
CMBA uses the personal information collected from the web site for the same purpose that it was collected and as permitted or required by law.

Disclosure
CMBA may disclose your personal information only if the disclosure is for the same purpose that the information was collected. CMBA will not disclose your personal information for another purpose unless CMBA has your consent to do so, except as required or permitted by law.

Consent

By becoming a member of CMBA, registering for events or services provided by CMBA, or contacting CMBA, you are consenting or giving CMBA permission to contact you as well as to collect, use, and disclose your information to the greatest degree permitted by any law.

Protection of Information

CMBA will make reasonable security arrangements to protect personal information in its custody or under its control to prevent unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification or disposal or similar risks.

We maintain the right to amend this policy from time to time.
